Reading the planner
The drive is the one that moves. Leave Midtown late morning and East Hampton is under three hours away; leave at three and it can be five. The flight barely changes, because the air leg is the same 35 to 45 minutes all day. What does move is the ground time to Teterboro or Westchester, which follows the same rush hour as everyone else.
That is why the helicopter column stays flattest: the heliports are minutes from most Manhattan offices. The trade-offs are luggage, group size and weather, which matter more in a helicopter than in a jet.
